Spiggie
House consists of two completely separate living quarters with part
of the house used by the owners, Dave and Jan Winter. The visitor’s
accommodation is one half of the ground floor of the house and has a
separate entrance, ensuring total privacy with views of the loch and our
own beach.
Spiggie House is a working Shetland smallholding with Shetland
sheep, Saanan nanny goats Tilly and Tegan, and Percy the cockerel with
his Shetland hens (their unusual green eggs are included in the welcome
pack), brown hens and Lassie our collie dog, also not forgetting our
cats Holly, Willow and Tom. All our animals are very friendly and adore
visitors.
The Accommodation:
The accommodation has undergone recent extensive refurbishment, is
extremely comfortable and is decorated to the highest standards and is
ideal for couples but can sleep up to four.
The visitor’s accommodation consists of:

A
box-bedroom with double bed;

Sitting
room with 2 sofas, one a fold-down double sofa bed, occasional
tables, satellite TV, DVD and CD players, traditional Shetland
music, extensive reference books of Shetland and some games (just in
case the rain should visit!)

Fitted
kitchen with extending dining table, electric cooker, fridge
freezer, microwave, washing machine, toaster, kettle, coffee
maker plus cutlery, china and glasses.

Bathroom
includes a bath with electric shower over, shaver socket, heated
towel rail.

Good
quality linen and towels provided as is a hairdryer.

Electric
central heating and storage heating throughout, All electricity
included in the price.
The house
complies with all health and safety requirements, and as such a fire
extinguisher and a first aid kit are provided.
The garden over looks the loch with garden furniture provided. BBQ and
tools provided on request- for use in the garden or on the beach.

Services:
To make your holiday as enjoyable
as possible, we will endeavour to assist you in any way we can.
To welcome you to Spiggie House, you will find a pot of soup and some
Shetland bannocks awaiting your arrival. There will also be a
basket of various Shetland produced goods for your enjoyment. Tea,
coffee, milk and biscuits are also included.
Bathrobes and slippers are provided, please remember to leave these with
us before you go, in addition you will also find the bathroom equipped
with soap, shampoo and conditioner for your use.
Binoculars are available in the house for your use, please note
however in the event of theft, damage or loss, these will need to be
replaced.
Free Transport:
Lifts to and from the local hotels can be arranged, with prior
notice. If you wish to walk to a hotel for a meal, then get a lift
back, just let us know and either Dave or Jan will be your personal
chauffeur if they are available. Lifts to and from the airport can
also be arranged. Please note however that both Dave and Jan work
and this service may only be available subject to their respective
schedules.
Pets:
Pets are welcome by
arrangement. Dog owners should note that we are surrounded by crofting
land so dogs must be under control or on a lead. There are plenty of
walks and beaches on Shetland where dogs may run under your control.

Tariff:
Bookings
from 2010 onwards will be taken on a Sat to Sat basis. A
£50.00 non refundable deposit is required when making your
booking. Rates quoted include electricity costs. Shorter breaks may
be available by arrangement.
